Console Opinion

Some of you may know me from when I had my previous blog, but for those that don't, below is what console I have and why.

My name is Jacob Mitchell and I have an XBOX 360, a 3DS, and a Wii U.
I do not plan on getting an XBOX One, a PS4, nor a PS Vita.
Why? Well strap in! I'll give you my unbiased reasoning!

First, I'll explain my Microsoft standpoint. The only reason that I have an XBOX 360 is because of the Halo franchise. That's it. Nothing else. The reason why I am not getting an XBOX One is because it is overpriced. I will think about getting one when it is $350. Yeah, that's how I roll. I don't have a huge budget, so that's me.

Now for Sony. Growing up, I did not even know such a thing as the PlayStation existed. I had a GameCube, my neighbor had a XBOX. That was all I had. I grew up with Halo and Mario, not Nathan Drake and Jak and Daxter. But still, I really enjoy lots of Sony's games. LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet and Clank. So why do I not have a Sony console, nor do I plan on getting one? It boils down to this, I can only fit three consoles in my house. I have an XBOX 360 for Halo 4, a Wii for all of my precious GameCube games, and a Wii U for... well for Pikmin 3 when that finally rolls in. But Jacob, why don't you get the PlayStation Vita? That has all of the franchises you love, but it is portable! Well Sony fan, the PS Vita is $250 - $300! That is just a bit too much for a FREAKING PORTABLE, DON'T YOU THINK??? Because I do, and that is why I don't have one.

Last but not least, Nintendo. I have a 3DS because of its excellent game library and it is ONLY $170! TAKE NOTE SONY! Besides, how would I play Pokemon X without a 3DS? I wouldn't, so boom. And now for the Wii U. Now I am well aware that there is lots of hate for the Wii U because it is "under-powered" and has a "terrible game library" and "no third party support". Now i agree with the first and third, but those don't make it a bad console. As for the second, once August hits, that will launch Nintendo's massive Wii U hits titles.
Now back to 1 and 3. The Wii U has none to little third-party support. I am not worried. 3DS used to have no third party support, but once its first party games came out, the third parties returned. The same will happen with Wii U. (side note: I don't care that the back-to-back Golden Poo Award Winner, EA has abandoned Wii U) Under-powered? Maybe. But that does not make Wii U a bad console. As long as the games are there, I could not care less about power or graphics!

Now, one last thing to think about. Do you hate the Wii U? If so, look below.

   Nintendo Wii U has...

  • Backwards Compatibility
  • Free Online Play
  • Previous Gen Controllers
Can you say the same about XBOX One or PlayStation 4? I do not think so.
