I'm a liar, Merry Christmas, GOTYs, baby!

Yeah, yeah, I'm late again but what fun is it being on time? I actually have an excuse this time, as I was waiting to play Titanfall 2 and Uncharted 4 so I could properly rank my GOTYs, and now that I have, BEHOLD... also, Merry Christmas to all

5. Pokemon Sun and Moon

Of course Pokemon was going to make it into the top five! Who do you think I am? Sun and Moon could possibly be the best generation of Pokemon yet, offering new twists on the Pokemon format such as the absence of gyms and the presence of Ultra Beasts, while providing enough nostalgia through Alolan forms of generation one monsters and returning characters. All in all, a lengthy adventure in a pleasant region.

4. Civilization VI

After all these years, Civilization keeps finding a way to retain just enough mechanics and features while introducing new ways to play to keep the game fresh and fun, playthrough after playthrough. Civ VI features the most robust experience to date with the addition of a Civics Tree, City Districts, and a unique art style that all come together for one masterpiece.

3. Overwatch

Unpopular opinion? I don't think Overwatch is fun. But there is no doubt in anyone's mind that Blizzard's newest offering has been wildly successful and has already established an eSports presence as well as... comics? Hokay, Overwatch. This game is sure to have a lengthy lifespan due to its eSports status as well as continued support for new characters.

2. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Popular opinion? Uncharted 4 is incredible. No, stupendous. No, magnificent. It's tough to put in words how great of a franchise Uncharted is and has been. It has this gift for storytelling unlike any I've seen in video games. Nathan Drake is in retirement, but not for long as he comes out for just one more adventure. And, I don't think there could have been a better send-off. Pacing is good, as is the storytelling component, and the graphics. Oh, the graphics. Just so damn good. A gem of a game that is fit for the final chapter of PlayStation's best exclusive.

Aaaaaand I'm a dick and I'm gonna make you wait a little bit for number one. Just because. See you then, kcduckling out.

Weekly Update e.15

Back again, and this week is a pretty exciting one because something happened that I had no idea was coming. Jimmy Fallon came through with some new Legend of Zelda footage on the Nintendo Switch! So we'll be checking that out among other things.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch

Jimmy Fallon had Reggie Fils-Aime on his show this week to show him some Super Mario Run footage and gameplay, but after that, Jimmy was pleasantly surprised with the additional reveal of Legend of Zelda on the Nintendo Switch. Below is the gameplay that was shown:(Nintendo Switch starts at 6:01)

Super Mario Run

Also on the show was Super Mario Run, the new app coming to iPad and iPhone come December 15. It'll be on Android phones and tablets next year. The app is $10 and offers three different game modes to play. Additionally, the game can be played with just one hand. It looks pretty awesome, but for $10, I don't know how sold I am on it.

Game of the Year Awards

kcduckling's 4th annual Game of the Year Awards is coming soon. Similar to the previous two years, I will only be doing the top 5 games of this year of 2016, and there are a lot of really good candidates. Next week I'll do the Game of the Year in my update, so I'll post the candidates here, and I'll see you all next week for the 16th weekly update/game of the year.

2016 Game of the Year Candidates

Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam

It's been a few, but now kcduckling is indeed back for the long-awaited 14th weekly update. We've got a bit to cover this week, so let's settle in and begin.

Pokemon Moon Review is up

Pokemon Moon, the very reason for my extended absence, has been an absolute pleasure to play, and has just been reviewed a few days ago. If you haven't had a chance to read it yet, you can find it either below, or right here. Hint hint: it's good.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild site live

Not only were we blessed with a new trailer for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but the new site is officially up, compiling all of its gameplay videos in one place for you to check out before the game is released. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is still slated for a 2017 release. To visit the website, simply click here.

Legend of Zelda 30th Anniversary Amiibo

The Legend of Zelda franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and to celebrate, the company has released a few special Amiibo for the occasion. Pictured below are two of the four special edition collectibles. To order them, you can do that from Nintendo's site.

Videos update?

Haha yeah, it's taking a while. Back off, sheesh! Most likely these puppies are gonna start showing up once 2017 hits because its the end of the semester and I'm busy and there are a lot of other things I should be worried about. Stay tuned and one day we'll get this thing off the ground.

Thanks all for reading and sticking with me, I'll see you all again next week and until then, kcduckling out.

Pokemon Sun and Moon Review

Holy goddamn crap, people. Pokemon Sun and Moon. It's been a little over three years since we last received a fresh new Pokemon experience for the DS family, and at long last the seventh generation of Pokemon has arrived and it has absolutely blown my mind.
There is a lot to like about Pokemon Sun and Moon, and most of these things are new developments for the now 20-year-old series. I'll do what I can to cover every incredible aspect of the game, but the main focus will, of course, be on the big new additions.

First off, the biggest and boldest change to the Pokemon series is the absence of gyms. Rather, in Alola, the region where Pokemon Sun and Moon take place, trainers take on the Island Challenge. Rather than moving through the region and defeating eight gyms and their leaders, trainers now progress through the islands and must complete various tasks required for the trial. These tasks range from gathering cooking ingredients to snapping pictures of Pokemon to spotting the difference in a dance routine. After completing these tasks, often a Totem Pokemon will face the trainer, followed by the Trial Leader. The thing about the Alola Island Challenge is that it is actually integrated with exploring the island and it helps you to familiarize with the people who inhabit them. This new take on the old formula really livens up the adventure and makes moving through the region feel like more of an adventure than with the gym format.
But, of course, there is always the ultimate challenge of the Pokemon League. Of course Pokemon couldn't ditch that staple, so you actually get to witness the birth of the Alolan Pokemon League and compete to be the first ever champion of Alola.

Now, for the bad guys. The Pokemon "bad guy" teams throughout the years tend to stay pretty much the same. They dress alike, have badass battle music, and have some sinister intentions. Team Skull is no different in this case, but the thing that really gets me about Team Skull is the comic relief that they provide to the game. Every move of a Team Skull grunt is over exaggerated in a style that you can't help but laugh at them and their uselessness. As for the part they play in the story, I very much liked the way that Team Skull, the Aether Foundation, and Gladion all interacted with each other. Three separate entities all working towards one goal that is very similar. Overall, Team Skull is a laughably bad team that I very much enjoyed defeating.

The Pokemon, of course. There are very few of them. Only 80 new Pokemon made it into this generation, and this number is padded by the new additions of Alolan forms. First generation Pokemon that have adapted to the Alolan climate and have thus changed their typing and looks, yet are still the same Pokemon. Notable Alolan forms include Persian, Golem, and of course, Exeggutor. The Pokemon design for the Alolan forms is pretty cool, and although some would say that these retyped and redesigned Pokemon is a way for Pokemon to stop thinking creatively for new Pokemon, I would say its a happy medium. As for the new seventh generation Pokemon, they are overall well designed. An overall nicely designed generation. The legendary Pokemon look great, as do the starters, and there aren't any really, really horrible ones. A good victory altogether.

Now, for some odds and ends. The Pokedex this generation is actually a Rotom that has inhabited a Pokedex and is thus dubbed the RotomDex. This new take on the Pokedex is so hilariously awesome in so many different ways. I love the phrases he says when you catch a Pokemon, like "hot diggity you're on fire, partner" or some other crazy shit.
The characters are pretty cool and I absolutely love your "rival" Hau to pieces. He's not some snobby douche who you've known for years and chooses the type that is super effective to your starter. He instead goes for the type that is not very effective to your partner. Props, Hau. The Trial Leader and Kahunas are all pretty badass, and I want to stress again how awesome the whole trials system is, getting to meet all of these people and battle them and mature throughout the process. That's really cool to me.
Pokemon Amie is gone, kind of, for Pokemon Refresh. It's pretty much the same system as before, you can pet your Pokemon and feed them little snacks, but now you can also heal them of status conditions after battle which is really convenient and wicked cool.
Poke Pelago is by far and away the coolest new addition to the series. Poke Pelago is a series of islands that the Pokemon of your PC inhabit so they can perform various tasks. For example, while I am out adventuring, I can throw my Golbat and Munchlax into Poke Pelago to raise their friendship level with me. Really cool.
Another welcome feature is the Festival Plaza, which I kind of see as almost like the mall in Pokemon Black and White. People arrive in it either via local wireless or by internet, and there are shops there that provide services from raising friendship to lottery to various other services. My favorite part of the Plaza are the missions. Any player with plaza tickets can host their own mission with friends, but also available are massive global missions, the first of which is to catch 100 million Pokemon as a global Pokemon community. This is so cool to me because it's awesome to think that the whole world is working together for one common goal. That's so damn neat.

Overall, there is a lot going on in Pokemon Sun and Moon, and that is absolutely not a bad thing. The one point that bothered me a little bit was the overload of nostalgia the game tried to shove down the player's throat. And this is partly thanks to every single Alolan form Pokemon being from the first 150, but also just the Pokemon in the region are overloaded with Kantoan Pokemon. I did what I always did in Pokemon games, the first Pokemon I encountered with different typing, I added to my team in order to defeat the Elite Four. Well after getting to the end of the game and looking back at my team, I was a little disappointing to only see one generation seven Pokemon there: my starter. My team at the end of the game consisted of:
Decidueye (gen7)
Snorlax (gen1)
Arcanine (gen1)
Slowbro (gen1)
Magnezone (gen4)
And yeah, I only had five Pokemon, I was saving the last slot for Alolan Exeggutor but it didn't work out. That's okay. But seriously, at one point in my journey, I was traveling with four of the first 150. It's not a huge takeaway, but I would have loved to see the earlier routes more densely populated with seventh generation Pokemon rather than Growlithes and Slowpokes. But seriously, that is my only only only complaint about this gem of a game. (Might come back later for more, stay posted, updates will come in at the top)

9.5 - A must have

Pokemon Sun and Moon represent the culmination of the Pokemon series and the finest offering to date. Everyone who owns a 3DS should absolutely give this game a try, and if you haven't played Pokemon for a while, all the more power to you, as the game is heavy on the nostalgia.

Drought Breaker

Hello all, kcduckling here. Just thought I'd shoot out a quick post to break up the drought here. Yes, missing last week's update was planned as Pokemon Moon has devoured my time. I am in the midst of both composing my Pokemon Moon review and also composing my first video for my brand new YouTube channel: some gameplay for Civ VI. Stay frosty and I'll see you soon. Love you all and kcduckling out.

Weekly Update e.13

Another week has gone by and this week is all about the preparation for the release of the seventh generation of Pokemon: Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Pokemon Sun and Moon release on Friday

I would have a countdown timer on the side, but Blogger isn't participating with my dorm WiFi so instead you will have to do it like they did in the olden days: count down using some simple math. The game comes out Friday so the release is in.. 3 days-ish.

More Ultra Beasts revealed

And boy do they look different from anything ever shown in a Pokemon game before. Check these suckers out

Those are UB03 and UB05, respectively. Still no deets on how exactly they will play into the game, but we can all find out this weekend.

Even more exclusive Z-Moves

Now the starter's final evolutions too have received exclusive Z-Moves for Pokemon Sun and Moon. Since the reveal of Z-Moves, I still don't know exactly how sold I am on them. They look a little time consuming and I can't really imagine that one of the status Z-Moves would be of much use, but hey, I haven't played it yet, so who knows? Maybe I'll like it.

kcduckling, when are you going to start making videos?

Great question. Due to me being sort of busy in college and also me having people around where I live, it can be difficult to find a good time to sit down and do some good ole commentary and talk about my favorite games. I am not moving away from this idea, but the time has got to be right. I still plan on streaming flash games with commentary because dammit, flash games are underrated. Until then, I've come up with an in-between. I'm going to start doing some videos with just game noise and gameplay. No voice, no me. Just you watching a video game. Some people are into that, so I hope you are.

Well, with this week being both the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon and also my fall break, don't get your hopes to high for a weekly update or videos. Just kick back, relax, play some Pokemon, and I'll see you next time. Until then, kcduckling out.

Weekly Update e.12

Another week, another close miss on the deadline for the Sunday post. Hey, it's college, stuff happens. Without further ado...

COD Infinite Warfare came out... who cares?

I dunno, not a lot of people I guess because although the game has received some okay reviews, the servers are just hilariously underused. The simple fact is COD is going somewhere where it shouldn't be: the future/space. Just stay out man, that's Halo's turf. And you don't want beef with the Master Chief.

A new hero for Overwatch

Sombra, I hear is what they call her. I don't really know much about her (because Overwatch is a dumb game, in my humble opinion), but for you Overwatch fans, eat it up! Here are the deets: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/sombra/

A rather unexciting week. Pokemon crawls closer as does that good ole January Nintendo Switch date. As for the YouTube channel and some hot vids, once again I will ask you to hold your horses. Progress has been made, I have the ingredients, I just need a little time to get cooking. But, I think that I've figured out that I'm gonna stream flash games mostly because those are the games that no one really talks about, and there are some damn good ones out there. Until next time, kcduckling out.

Weekly Update e.11

It's  been more than a week since the release of Civilization VI and Battlefield One, and time goes on. This week was a surprisingly packed week for Nintendo fans, including a very desired Nintendo Switch related date. Let's dive on in.

Nintendo Switch Announcements

We have already received the first look at Nintendo's next console, but there is actually quite a bit that we still don't know about it, including specs, price, and what games the system will have at launch. Nintendo's January 12 presentation seeks to clarify all of these burning questions. Until then, well I guess we'll have to keep hearing rumors and wait.

Pokemon Sun and Moon... again

The Pokemon Company has been releasing trailer after trailer after trailer trying to get Pokemon fans hyped for the seventh generation of Pokemon, and it certainly is working. Yet another Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer has released this week, detailing even more new features to the game and showing off a few new Pokemon as well. I won't go too much into this one, but the trailer includes the final evolution for the starter 'mons, the guardian deity for all four islands, and a new post-champion battle challenge that includes some Pokemon Trainer legends. Pokemon Sun and Moon are now only 18 days away.

Because why not? A Volcanion code!

GameStop had an event this month were you could go into their store and pick up a special code for a Volcanion in your OmegaRuby or AlphaSapphire Pokemon game, and I happened to come across an extra, so if you still need a code for this event-only Pokemon, here she is:

A6Z7 H4U4 USEL 6P6X

Enjoy your badass Volcanion, courtesy of GameStop and kcduckling.

I'm still looking to post some Civ VI gameplay hopefully soon, but school will be school, so probably I'll have to wait for the weekend. Until then kcduckling out.

I'll come back soon with some Nintendo Switch impressions and hopefully my first Civ VI Let's Play

Weekly Update e.10

Back at it again with the weekly update, its me. And boy howdy was this a hell of a week for us gamers, with the release of Battlefield One, Civilization VI, a Pokemon Sun demo, AND the freaking goddamn Nintendo NX was revealed as the Nintendo Switch. Pretty cool stuff. Let's get into the details, shall we?

Battlefield One

I already touched on this a tad bit the other day, I've only played a few hours of the online multiplayer, and it was pretty damn excellent. Seriously good looking and pretty fun to play, it's worth checking out.

Pokemon Sun Demo

A very overshadowed little fella, the Pokemon Sun demo also came out earlier this week on Tuesday. It is an incredibly short demo that was very, very, very disappointing. I know it's just a demo, but seriously, put at least a little substance in it. The demo is literally you walk around in a city and then go to a trial and take a few pics and battle about 6 Pokemon with your type disadvantaged Greninja. After that, you unlock a Tauros for your PokeRide service and can do a few more things, but seriously, a really quick demo that offers a tiny taste of the game. Overall though, the game still is shaping up to be the biggest entry in the series to date, so look forward to its release come this November 18th.

Civilization VI

Seriously, wow man. Civilization V had dominated my play time on Steam and was easily my most played game in my whole library, so I was looking very much forward to its follower, Civilization VI. When it finally unlocked for me Thursday night at 11pm, I immediately jumped into the game and was not at all disappointed. As of now, the game has been out for 71 hours and Steam tells me that I have played for 35 of those, so I'm pretty hooked. My time has pretty evenly been distributed between a single player game as Gandhi and a multiplayer game as Montezuma. I've got about 300 turns in both and there are some really big things that jump out at me.
  • The incredible aggressiveness of the barbarians seems to be so much more powerful than in Civ V. In my multiplayer game, I foolishly expanded too far out of my reach and put a new city up on the same landmass as a barbarian encampment and for my first time in Civ history, the barbarians took my city from me and burned it to the ground. Pretty rude, if I do say so myself.
  • The updated civics and tech trees are incredibly helpful and the integration into the game is incredible. Every tech and civic comes with a "Eureka moment" to speed its research, a feature that rewards players for playing the game with wit and really thinking through their moves.
  • The unstacked cities too offer a fresh take on the Civilization gameplay that demands city planning, which tiles will become districts and which tiles will be saved for food and housing.
  • Civ AI leaders definitely have not changed much from my experience. Even though leaders all have agendas now that should allow you to please them, they still make some pretty outlandish claims sometimes, like my multiplayer game where Gilgamesh of Sumeria denounced me because of my treasury size when I had 5,000 gold and he only had 195. Hypocritical much?
I'm thinking perhaps sometime this next week or weekend, I'll finally get that YouTube channel I've dreamed about up and running. For sure I'll try to stream a little Civ this upcoming week, we'll just have to see.

I feel like there was something else. I can't quite remember what it was, what was I thinking of? Oh, right.

A freaking new Nintendo console is on the way and not only does it look pretty freakin sweet, it also teased a new 3D Mario game for it which is enough to get that hype train rolling down the tracks. I'll come back later for some more detailed Nintendo NX impressions, but until then have a good week and kcduckling out.

Civ VI, Battlefield One Impressions

I too am surprised that I was away from video games enough this weekend in order to get this post out, but I have already logged about 12 hours in Civ VI and have also gotten to play about 3 hours of Battlefield One and both have been impressive.

Battlefield One
Seriously one of the prettiest games I think I've ever had the pleasure of playing. I don't own it, but I did get to play it for a few hours on my friend's PlayStation 4. The weapons are cool as shit, the game looks phenomenal, and the only gripe that I have with it is the seriously overpowered horsemen and snipers. But that is a small complaint. One of my friends said that Battlefield One is a good game but doesn't feel like a Battlefield game, which could disappoint some fans of the series. Still though, with an incredible story experience, Battlefield One is a good entry, at least as a first person shooter and not so much as a Battlefield game.

Civilization VI
It has been a little while since Civilization V and Beyond Earth just couldn't satisfy my Civ cravings, so thank god Civ VI is finally upon us. I have played about 12 hours, in one single player game as Gandhi and in another multiplayer game as Montezuma. 200 turns into the game as Gandhi and I can really feel all the changes that have been made, from feeling the wrath of crossing an AI's agenda to the relentlessness of the goddamn barbarians. I'll be back with a more in depth look at Civ VI, but just know this: Civ VI has improved in just about every way from Civ V, and that was a damn good game.

This is a little appetizer for tomorrow's post for the weekly update + Civ VI stuff, but I am also thinking about maybe recording some Civ VI and doing a little YouTube actin, but we'll just have to see. Until tomorrow, kcduckling out.

Nintendo Switch Announcement

At long last, the long awaited and infinitely hyped "Nintendo NX" was revealed as the Nintendo Switch. The reveal trailer is a little three minute video that shows off some games but mostly the versatility and the various features of the new system. The system will have tremendous third party support and will be launched in March of 2017. Unfortunately, I don't have much time right now to do any breakdown because of a project I have due tomorrow, but I will be back this weekend and I'll try to handle everything that's going on, between Pokemon and Civ VI and Battlefield One and now this too, its looking like a pretty hefty weekly update. Here's some stuff to look at:

Until next time, kcduckling out.

Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam Revival

Hello all! I don't know what it is but I am inspired to post more this week! Just the other night whilst in the laundry room, I decided to play Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam! The game that I felt like hyping up a lot only to be let down. I hadn't played it since its release in January, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by it! I think I just burnt myself out after I got it, so I will be carrying on with it this week before Civ VI's launch and be back this later this week with a little review action. Until then, kcduckling out.

Mario Kart - ranked

Update (11.03.16) I reordered them because I live in a constant state of self doubt.

Recently, I have gone back and started playing both Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart Wii again and it has inspired me to take a look back and rank the Mario Kart games from worst to best. This series has always been very dear to me as Double Dash!! was the first video game I ever played and Mario Kart Wii was the first game I ever bought with my own money. Here goes:

8. Mario Kart: Super Circuit

Mario Kart: Super Circuit is the little known entry in the series for the Game Boy Advance. Not much can be said about this game, it was the entry that brought the series to handheld, but other than that the game is dull and isn't much fun to play.

7. Super Mario Kart

Nostalgia aside, Super Mario Kart is a flat, unexciting game with very little to no fun or exciting courses. The game did start the franchise, but the game itself isn't that great of an outing.

6. Mario Kart 64

Mario Kart 64 marks the point in this countdown where the games go from "not very good" to "good". Mario Kart 64 is a great game, don't get me wrong, but compared to the other games, Mario Kart 64 can't quite compete with the other games ahead of it in the countdown. Mario Kart 64 was the first 3D game in the series and featured incredibly memorable maps such as its Rainbow Road and Yoshi Valley.

5. Mario Kart 7

This here was a tough call, because Mario Kart 7 made huge leaps in the series by introducing car parts to assemble your own race car, flying portions of track, and underwater portions of tracks. Mario Kart 7 simply just doesn't compete with its predecessor because Mario Kart DS was much more revolutionary.

4. Mario Kart DS

Mario Kart DS introduced some of the biggest staples of the entire franchise, including the first game with online competitive racing and bringing back retro tracks remastered, which still remains in the series to this day and is a massive part of every modern Mario Kart game, greatly adding to the depth, variety, and replayability of the game. As far as how fun it is and how much I enjoyed it, Mario Kart 7 is definitely in front of Mario Kart DS, but this game was simply too ground breaking to leave any further behind.

3. Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart Wii is by far one of the greatest multiplayer games for the Nintendo Wii and to this day holds up as a fantastic multiplayer experience. Mario Kart Wii was so damn successful because of its addition of bikes, half-pipes, and tricks to add a whole separate level of gameplay to an already enjoyable game. Additionally, the motion controls and the addition of the Wii Wheel is a welcome addition that really successfully utilized the motion controls of the Wii and was surprisingly not cumbersome. Overall an incredible game that takes the cake in the series for most hectic, just not the best.

2. Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Double Dash!! is an incredible game and is the only Mario Kart entry to feature two player coop racing within the same kart, an incredibly fun feature to use with your friends while playing. Additionally, Double Dash!! has some of the most memorable courses in Mario Kart franchise history: Baby Park, Waluigi Stadium, DK Mountain, Wario Colosseum to name a few. Also, the All Cup Tour is such a fun way to play through all of the courses still in Grand Prix mode.

1. Mario Kart 8

Wow. Mario Kart 8 is just such a mind-blowingly great game that this was the easiest decision on the entire list. Mario Kart 8 carries over the flying and underwater sections from Mario Kart 7, as well as the car parts mechanic that allows racers to construct their own cars with no limits on size. Mario Kart 8 is by far, no question, the most gorgeous looking game I believe I have seen on the Wii U. Mario Kart 8 runs at a smooth 1080p, 60fps, and it is noticeable. Mario Kart 8 is beautiful game that manages to make even old SNES and GBA courses look incredibly good and its original courses are some of the best in the series, to site a few: Mount Wario, and who cares what else because FREAKING MOUNT WARIO. The one complaint about Mario Kart 8 is its god-awful character roster. I slam Mario Kart Wii for having Baby Peach and Baby Daisy forced in, but Jesus, Mario Kart 8 includes them as well as a Baby Rosalina, each and every one of the Koopalings, and a, I shit you not, Pink Gold Peach. Meanwhile, Diddy Kong and King Boo don't even make it in. This is one thing that I literally cannot stress in words: it baffles me to know what the hell Nintendo was thinking when they crafted this roster. It seriously confuses the crap out of me. Later DLC adds Link and Dry Bowser among others, which is great that they make it in, but seriously, where the hell is Diddy Kong? Bowser Jr.? Dry Bones? Apart from the character roster, and some item problems, (mostly the existence of a coin item) Mario Kart 8 is a flawless game.

Weekly Update e.9

Back at it again with his weekly update, here's kcduckling on time for once! This is a big week for some highly anticipated games, let's jump in.

Civ VI, Battlefield One Release Week

We have almost made it to October 21st, also known as release day for two of fall's biggest releases for video games: Civilization VI and Battlefield One. After weeks of counting down and checking in on updates for both games, mainly Civ VI, I could not be more glad that they have finally arrived. Look for those games this Friday.

Pokemon Sun and Moon continues to unveil creatures

Pokemon has continued to unveil creatures, and this week's unveil includes evolved forms of previously unveiled creatures and new Alolan forms for Grimer and Muk. Full details for the new Pokemon can be found here, Pokemon Sun and Moon is now only one month and two days away.

Not enough to satisfy your hunger for the duckling? No worries, I'll be back later today. Although, because I have not yet had an opportunity to play Paper Mario Color Splash, I will be holding off on my Paper Mario article and instead be posting an article ranking the Mario Karts. Look forward to it,

Weekly Update e.8

kcduckling back and on time for once! This week's update will be very lightly packed, as I had a post earlier in the week covering the main happening this week which was, of course, the new Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer. So, without further ado...

Pokemon Sun and Moon starter evolutions revealed

Big news in the Pokemon community as the evolved form of all three of the starters was revealed earlier this week in addition to a bunch of other stuff about the game, all of which is covered right here!

Please, for the love of God, stop with the NX rumors

This isn't news that is brand new this week, this is a plea to anyone in the gaming community to shut the hell up about Nintendo's next console, the NX unless there is actual information to convey. I love Wii U Daily but Jesus, just look at their rumors category and you'll see months worth of random guesses and rumors of what the NX will look like/have as games/perform like/other shit we don't know. But in general, seriously, just please wait for the official announcement. Thanks!

Paper Mario Post coming in hot

The post I'm working on for the current state of the Paper Mario franchise is coming along nicely and should be ready to post sometime this upcoming week. Look forward to it, as it will cover my impression of the new game and compare it to the past games as well as look at where I hope the series is going from here.

Pokemon really dominated everything else this week, including the very popular Pokemon Go app which also will be receiving an update in the near future. Update deets are found right here. See you next time, kcduckling out.

Pokemon Sun and Moon Info Dump

God is good! On Tuesday morning, we were treated to a nearly four minute trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon that was packed to the brim with information, so here is all of the information right here with the video included, of course.

First of all, we were blessed with the starter Pokemon evolution, and boy do I feel very differently about them. Dartrix is Rowlet's evolution and he is now moodier and has better hair. Overall, he's pretty cool. Torracat is Litten's evolution and I think that he is by far the best designed of the three. Brionne is Popplio's evolution and I am glad I don't choose water type starters, because whoof. This must be the water starter's cool down after creating Greninja, but more on him later.

Festival Plaza is the new social aspect of the game, and it looks eerily similar to Join Avenue from Pokemon Black and White in the aspect that trainers offer you services like training your Pokemon and buying good items. The trial captain Sophocles runs the place, and it looks like everything is payed for by Festival Coins which are earned by doing favors for people that visit your plaza.

Poke Pelago. Wow. Poke Pelago is where your Pokemon in the PC go while they're hanging out in there, and there are several different islands that each have different tasks for your PC Pokemon to do. The only island available from the start is called Isle Abeens, which is the Island where you can possibly find and catch new Pokemon that have been attracted to your island. From there, you will have to develop your other islands before you can use them, but once developed other islands include abilities that will let you find rare items like evolutionary stones and train your Pokemon.

The Z-Ring is all powerful, I guess. Not only can it execute Z-Moves, but it can also trigger mega evolution! The trailer showed Lucario, Kangaskhan, and Salamence all mega evolving, so perhaps this is hinting at their presence in Alola? Furthermore, this is not confirmed by the Pokemon company yet, but if I had to guess, since mega evolution and Z-Moves are both powered by the Z-Ring, I would speculate that you can use EITHER a mega evolution or a Z-Move in battle. Unless its VGC 2017, but we'll get to that later.

What's really cool is that Pokemon is going to release a special demo version again, just like they did for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Pretty freakin cool. But what's also cool is that for the duration of this special demo version, the trainer will have access to Ash Greninja, a special Greninja with an ability that whenever he knocks out a Pokemon, he will transform into Ash Greninja through his Battle Bond ability. This special Greninja can then be transferred into the full game upon its release.

And, of course, don't just take it from me, check this shit out:

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE

In addition to all that glorious information in the trailer, the Pokemon Sun and Moon website was also updated with new details on a bunch of stuff, and one of those things was the Pokemon Global Link. The ol' PGL will be updated and reopened on release day: November 18th for Pokemon Sun and Moon. This update will bring about some hefty changes to the system.
For rating battles, there are four categories: single battles, doubles battles, special battles (variants of the aforementioned categories, the first special battle will be single battles featuring legendary Pokemon, Ash Greninja, and a few other normally banned mon's), and the new championship format. The championship format will be available day one for Pokemon Sun and Moon battlers and will use the rules set for VGC 2017, which doesn't look like it's gonna be horrible.
In addition to the rating battles, QR rental teams will be a new feature that will allow players to put their team into a QR code format and share it with other players to then use online.
Another new feature will be Global Missions, which is a common goal for every Pokemon Sun and Moon PGL user in the world. If this goal is achieved, well I would hope there is some type of rare Pokemon or item for reward, but there is currently no word on rewards. The first mission available from day one will be to catch a lot of Pokemon. Seems easy enough.
The last big feature mentioned for the new Pokemon Global Link is the ability to host your own Pokemon competitions. These can be hosted either online or nearby, with the difference being you either pre-approve a roster of players for online or you simply create a QR code for a competition and local players all use that code.

That's all for this update, here. Of course if you want more information, you can try out the Pokemon Sun and Moon website. There's always good stuff there. I think I'll have time later this week for my Paper Mario post, but I've already hit two in one week so I don't wanna get too crazy. Until next time kcduckling out.

Weekly Update e.7

Just a little late in true kcduckling fashion, here I am for the seventh installment of Weekly Update! This week I talk milestones, releases, and more. Let's dive in.

4000 Page views

Wowsers Bowsers, baby, this blog just hit 4000 page views this last weekend and I'm pretty happy about it! The blog is a little over three years old, so I would consider that a pretty cool milestone there. But who cares other than me amirite? Let's move on.

Paper Mario Color Splash Release Week

The latest installment in the Paper Mario franchise comes out in stores and on the Nintendo eShop this week and I don't really care. It's a pretty hefty adventure it looks like and I know that a lot of reviewers are saying that the series has gained its witty and hilarious writing back after Sticker Star's disappointing adventure, but why I can't get excited for it is mostly because of the battle system. Call me old timey, but the sticker system really just doesn't work for me. I'll perhaps post later in the week giving my thoughts on the series overall. Look forward to it! For those that are getting the game, which I will neither advocate for or against, it comes out October 7th, or Thursday.

Obviously, Pokemon

Pokemon Sun and Moon had another new trailer today, but since it was technically this week, I'm not going to go into much detail here. I'll have a post later in the week really breaking it down. What I can tell you is that:
  • mega evolution is back, baby
  • mega evolution is banned from competitive play, baby
  • starter evos look good, great, and shitty... in that order
  • SO MUCH OTHER STUFF DAYUM
I'll be back later this week for Pokemon Sun and Moon breakdown, and if time allows, Paper Mario franchise thoughts. Until next time, kcduckling out.

Weekly Update e.6

Back again and just a little late, here I am! This week's update will be like last week's in the sense that it's rather thin. Nintendo's non rumor news has come to a bit of a lull with the only new announcements being Pokemon news once a week. And about that...

HOLY BALLS! CUSTOMIZATION!

Pokemon Sun and Moon is really going for it with the newest trailer, showing off the way more customizable trainers in action with makeup, more hair styles, and some pretty sweet shirts. Also, some pretty cool new Pokemon with some rather interesting abilities/moves. The trailer is here, do check it out:

Civilization 6 System Requirements

Not much to say here, here they are:

Once again a dry week, but another week closer to that NX announcement that may or may not happen in October... Until then, kcduckling out

Weekly Update e.5

Here again just a tad late because my laptop decided to automatically update and keep updating and the screen is still on the restart screen its been almost 24 hours send help I've tried hard shutdowns and I've tried beating it with some blunt objects I dunno guys. BUT without further ado, here is your weekly digest:

Battlefront's Death Star Expansion

comes out this week! And the kind folks working on the game even released a freakin awesome trailer, so FEAST YER EYES. Seriously, check this shit out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRtNR_1fMv4 (sorry the video insert isn't working, so here's the link)

Pokemon gets freaky

Kinda. More ultra beasts were revealed this past week and they look pretty swanky. They are pictured below, UB-02 Absorption is exclusive to Pokemon Sun while UB-02 Beauty is exclusive to Pokemon Moon. Once again, fans have been quick to compare these beasts to people, saying UB-01 resembles Lillie, Absorption resembles Gladion, and Beauty resembles Lusamine. Oddly enough, all three of these characters all look like each other with blonde hair and green eyes. What exactly are Ultra Beasts? seems to be the biggest question for Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Two things this week barely constitutes an update but hey, two shall suffice. More Sun and Moon news is coming from Pokemon tomorrow and one more Civ leader should be revealed this week, but until next Sunday this is kcduckling out.

Weekly Update e.4

Woohoo! A good week for Nintendo but iOS users are getting a little something too, let's check it out:

More Pokemon Sun/Moon

I went over this in between weekend updates because there was so much to cover, so if you wanna get the full deets, check it out right here. Otherwise, to shorten things up a bit, PEOPLE MIGHT BE POKEMON WHAT CONSPIRACY MOOODDDE

Super Mario headed to iPhone and iPad

The biggest surprise of the week was at Apple's keynote just this week when Shigeru Miyamoto himself took the stage and announced a Super Mario app was coming exclusively to the Apple App Store (Android will get it sometime in 2017). The gameplay involves simply tapping to jump, Mario automatically runs. Not much has been unveiled yet, but in a bit of semi-related news, Nintendo also said this week that Amiibo working with apps was possible! Think of that what you will.

Rocket League Rumble is LIVE

Rocket League's ridiculous success has been shared by millions worldwide and now there is even more to like about the hit indie title: a 3v3 game mode with Mario Kart-esque items to help lead your team to victory. I've already logged some impressive hours in Rumble with my friends and I've got to say, the mode is just as fun as it's hyped up to be. Of course, I still prefer a competitive game of doubles, but Rumble presents a lighthearted casual mode for everyone that can really get crazy.

That's all I rounded up for ya this week, until next time, kcduckling out.

Even More Pokemon Sun and Moon Hype

Another week, another Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer that adds to the mystery of the game. Already revealed to the public were Sun and Moon's legendary Pokemon, regional variants of first generation Pokemon, the bad guys of the game: Team Skull, the tropical region, and Z-Moves, among other things. But now the Pokemon Company has just showcased a few more huge features for their upcoming titles.

First of all, new Pokemon. I'm going to speed through this part because these aren't the crazy new features that I'm talking about. But one of the new Pokemon is called "the synthetic Pokemon" and is a normal type named "Type: Null", colon and everything. This new Pokemon has set the Pokemon community ablaze with theories on what exactly this creature is, but if you want more info, the Pokemon website is an excellent resource. They've got several paragraphs for each and every new Pokemon announced so far.

Next is Pokemon Sun and Moon's day and night cycle. The first of some cool new mechanics for this upcoming game. Pokemon Sun and Moon are set 12 hours apart. Pokemon Moon owners will have their current time plus 12 hours as their time in-game. Additionally, the games will feature different Pokemon encountered in the wild, (the example given in the Japanese trailer was Pokemon Sun's Drifloon to Pokemon Moon's Misdreavus) different Totem Pokemon, (example given was Pokemon Sun's Gumshoos to Pokemon Moon's Alolan Raticate) and of course Pokemon Sun's Solgaleo to Pokemon Moon's Lunala.

After that was the grand reveal of Pokemon Sun and Moon's good guys: the Aether Foundation. The Aether Foundation is said to "care for Pokemon that have been hurt". The island found in the middle of the Alolan Region that had been previously theorized to be home to the Pokemon League, is actually home to the Aether Foundation. There they care for Pokemon while also conducting various research projects. The leader of the Aether Foundation is called Lusamine, and is describe as the foundation's "glamorous president". Alongside her are the AF's "branch chief" Faba and "assistant branch chief" Wicke. Working for the foundation are Aether Foundation grunts, which has led some to believe that the Aether Foundation is secretly an evil team operating under a disguise. But you can be the judge of that until the game comes out.

Next, we are introduced to another member of Team Skull: Gladion, the Team Skull Enforcer. He is shown battling with the new Pokemon, Type: Null, the brutally strong Pokemon. What's interesting is why he was not announced at the same time as all the other Team Skull members, but this probably means nothing.

What really excites me is this next part of the trailer, the return of Dexio and Sina from Pokemon X and Y to help you find the Zygarde Cells. In the trailer, they are depicted giving you the Zygarde Cube which then allow you to find and collect the Zygarde Cells on your journey. Collecting them will allow you to acquire Zygarde's different forms.

It's been called the return of Pokemon Snap: PokeFinder is a tool in your Rotom Pokedex that allows you to take pictures of Pokemon in the wild and inside cities in the Alola region. These can then be shared (on Miiverse maybe?) and receive likes and comments from other trainers.

Last is Pokemon Sun and Moon's biggest mystery and biggest announcement: Ultra Beasts. Ultra Beasts are non-Pokemon creatures that are apparently threatening the Alola region. The Aether Foundation is conducting research on these dangerous beasts, and there are rumors that more than one exist. What is most peculiar about the only announced beast: UB-01 is that it bares a remarkable resemblance to a previously announced human character, who is also surrounded in mystery.

To see this all for yourself, I've included both the American and Japanese trailers because the Japanese one shows more gameplay, which is important at the end when we get a better look of UB-01:

Weekly Update e.3

Nintendo dropped a Nintendo Direct geared specifically towards its 3DS system earlier this week, so the content in this update will be heavily focused on that. That is all. Here-a-we-goooOOOOO

Battlefield One Open Beta

The only piece of non-Nintendo news this week is about the open beta for Battlefield One. In a previous update, I mentioned how great Battlefield One was looking based on its trailer. I can now confirm, after playing this game that it for sure lived up to its hype. As of now, it isn't mind blowingly awesome, but it is a nice game that I enjoyed my time with.

Legend of Zelda celebrates 30 years

The Legend of Zelda franchise is celebrating 30 years this year, and to commemorate the occasion, Nintendo is releasing a few new products:
  • 4 new Amiibo featuring Link and Zelda from various LOZ titles
  • 3 new books, one of which featuring that "art and artifacts of Legend of Zelda"
  • the Legend of Zelda orchestra is performing across the country
  • Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is being released on the Wii U

StreetPass for 3DS is receiving an update

The update will add "quickpass", a way of speeding up the process of StreetPass, while also adding five new games, one of which is being given to 3DS owners for free starting right now! Additionally, the number of people waiting at your gate increases from 10 to 100, although this feature is only for VIP StreetPass users, as I understand.

More Pokemon Sun and Moon News!

Rattatta is the next Pokemon to receive a new Alolan form, also certain Pokemon, including Raichu and Snorlax have their own Z-Moves. These moves look pretty friggin sweet, and you will not want to pass up on these. All 3DS owners who purchase Pokemon Sun or Pokemon Moon can actually receive a special Munchlax when the game comes out, with two new awesome moves.

A bunch of other stuff!

Go here to see it all! Because there is a BUNCH of awesome stuff in here, including a Yarn Poochy Amiibo and Pikmin on the 3DS!

Weekly Update e.2

A tad late, but here nonetheless. Let's hop right in:

Civilization VI gets a limited "Anniversary Edition"

It's super limited but it's also dope as hell! If you're a fan of Civilization, by all means snatch it up, that is if there are any left. They only made 20,000. Comes with a coinset, some books, and of course, the game. Here's the full deets: https://civilization.com/news/entries/civilization-vi-limited-quantity-25th-anniversary-edition-revealed

Halo 5: Guardians gets another free update; Forge

Firstly, Halo 5: Guardians Forge is coming to Windows 10, which is cool. But way cooler is the fact that Halo 5 is getting yet another free content release, featuring new maps, new armor customization, new weapon skins, and THE FREAKING HUNTER CANNONS. URL for the full details is here: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/anvil-s-legacy-preview, but wow Halo is still piling on the free shit, so keep it coming.

That's all for this week, hopefully, some more Mons will be announced next week, but until then, kcduckling out

Weekly Update e.1

Here he is! The great, the clever, the wonderful, the ever knowledgeable kc...DUCKLING! [crowd roars, applause soon follows]

Hey friends, its me, kcduckling, comin atcha for the first time from my new residence in Manhattan, Kansas. Yes, the kduckling is now a powercat, but thats not why you came here, is it?

This week has featured a lot of news on some awesome upcoming vidyagames, thanks mostly to Gamescom being held this week, but here's my top stories:

Battlefield 1 looks gooooooooood

Boy howdy, I was kinda hyped for Battlefield 1 before this week and now I can't help but completely fall in love with the game. Everything in the trailer was absolutely epic, from the Johnny Cash music inn the background to the mindblowingly awesome spectacle of buggies driving side-by-side with horses or the first person look of getting hit by a train, the trailer promised fans that the game would not disappoint and would be a refreshing new take on the FPS genre thanks to its World War I setting. Here's the trailer here if you missed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymwXbF1VTKU

Pokemon Sun and Moon continues to impress

Pokemon Sun and Moon have been steadily revealing new Pokemon leading up to their November release, and they have kept the habit going, revealing a badass new Fire/Dragon Pokemon and quite possibly the most brilliantly designed Pokemon I have seen in the past few generations: a Ghost/Ground sandcastle Pokemon. He's pictured below, but honestly the design team on Sun and Moon have been killing it thus far with my one exception being the disgustingly artificial Magearna, but no matter.

Thats all I really have for you this week, I'll definitely have more next week its just that this week was a little hectic from all the college move in and preparation and such. See you next Sunday. kcduckling out.

New Post Format

As today marks two months since my last post, I've once again continued my trend of forgetting I have a blog for months on end. Therefore, I have come up with a new post format that will help me post more regularly. Once a week, I'll post a little wrap up for the week. No news, strictly opinions, so it's easier for me to post on a tight schedule. Look forward to the first one of those fellas this next Sunday. I'll see you then. kcduckling, out.

Nintendo at E3

E3 is here and Nintendo has had two main games that they've been showing off and boy howdy they look great.

Pokemon Sun and Moon received a little time on the big screen, showing off a few new Pokemon and the new battle screen and a few other tidbits. It all looks good, the design of the new Pokemon is pretty good and the game itself looks great.

However, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as we are calling it now, looks PHENOMENAL. Open world and a massive one at that, Legend of Zelda has recorded so much video over the past few days, all of those videos are available on their website at e3.nintendo.com. Go check em out.

Mario Kart 8 DLC could be on the way

I've always been a bigger fan of Mario Kart 8 than of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, but this is the unpopular opinion in the broad scope of things, as Super Smash Bros. has received DLC after DLC after DLC while Mario Kart 8 had two quick bouts of extra content. However, Nintendo of Europe just tweeted something very interesting:

A rude tease or could there be more content on the way?

Halo 5 Updated Thoughts

When I did my games of the year, I held Halo 5: Guardians back at second place, but with the DLC plan that 343 has done over the past several months, Halo 5: Guardians stands as the most elite first person shooter on the market. Every month since launch, there has been an update, bringing new maps, weapons, REQ variants, and more, and all for free. This model has been extremely popular and I really believe that more companies should approach downloadable content through this method. Anyway, the point is that the newest update will have probably the most badass thing I've ever seen in a Halo game:
SWORD NEEDLER WARTHOG
LITERALLY A WARTHOG THAT SHOOTS NEEDLES OUT OF ITS TURRET

gg everything else, see ya

Pokemon Sun and Moon Impression

Praise the Lord! A brand new Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer just came out a few days ago and now we have a good look at the region, the legendary Pokemon, and the starter Pokemon. SO how does it all look?

The Region - looks great. Themed after Hawaii and named the Alola region, from what we've seen, the region hosts a volcano, plenty of sandy beaches and ocean, but also at least one large city. This opens the question, vehicles or not? No signs have been shown yet, but we'll just have to wait and see.

The Legendary Pokemon - also look pretty cool. My only qualm is that the Pokemon Sun legendary looks a lot like Pyroar if you swap some colors here and there, but this isn't that big of a deal. He still looks crazy badass. And the Pokemon Moon legendary looks phenomenal, like a big dream-catcher, almost.

The Starters - ah starter Pokemon. They're no Gen 1 starters, but they look pretty good. My favorite BY FAR is Rowlet, the grass and flying starter simply because he looks adorable but can also fuck you up thanks to his dual typing. Litten looks pretty good, and my least favorite is probably Popplio, but this is neither here nor there.

All in all, I am very excited for this next entry in the series, and I can't wait to get more information on it soon.

Three Things

I don't feel like posting separately, so Imma bundle these three thoughts together: COD Infinite Warfare, Overwatch Open Beta, Captain America: Civil War.

For starters, I know that I never talk about movies on this blog and for good reason, because I play way more video games than I do watch movies. But, Captain America: Civil War is easily the most exciting, action-packed Marvel movie I have ever seen. The movie as a whole is very well done, but the fight sequences are masterfully put together and everything looks great. The addition of Spiderman only brings more joy and wit to the battles, which is something that is always welcome. Seriously, go see this movie. You will not be disappointed.

OVERWATCH. I had to hear about Overwatch all week this week from my other friends who have played the game and some have even pre-ordered already, so I finally decided to check it out yesterday, and I have to admit, the game is fun. No, it's not the most original title but I had fun playing it, which is all that video games are about, man.

And, finally, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Infinitely stupid. I hate Call of Duty. The franchise is still in the future, and is now turning to space which is really too bad because there is another prominent first person shooter that already takes place in space. I can't remember the name though... oh yeah, FUCKING HALO jesus. Infinity Ward is a bunch of cheap bastards who can't think on their own and now all Call of Duty fans will have to wade through the slop that is Infinite Warfare if they wish to play Modern Warfare remastered.

Just to sum it all up: see Captain Ameria: Civil War, Overwatch is fun, but probably not buyable, Call of Duty is garbage and Infinite Warfare is basically Halo now.

Breaking the Post Drought

Much like Nintendo with their good games drought, so too I find this blog having yet another post drought. Mostly because I'm wrapping up my senior year of high school, but also because I've been spending every free second I have playing the masterpiece that is Halo 5: Guardians.

The recent news is that Legend of Zelda Wii U has become Legend of Zelda NX/Wii U, and will release in March of 2017... no, wait... now just 2017. This is incredibly disappointing because after the first trailer, the release date was "2015". How incredible it is that Nintendo was so far off in projecting a release date that the game will actually be a whole two years later in its release.

Also what's been bugging me lately is how we have heard absolutely nothing about the next entry in the Pikmin franchise: Pikmin 4. Miyamoto himself said last September that Pikmin 4 was "very close to completion", yet there has not been a single video of it, or even a screenshot.

What Nintendo is doing right now, I have no idea. The Big N seems to be completely out of whack with their Wii U coming to the end of its life and the NX coming just next year. Looking at the rest of 2016, Nintendo has very little planned for its gaming systems, the only big names being Kirby in Kirby: Planet Robobot, and the much-hated Metroid Prime: Federation Force, not to mentio Pokemon Sun and Moon. Although, Nintendo does have both an Animal Crossing and a Fire Emblem app coming out later this year, presumably alongside Pokemon Go. And although Nintendo's Miitomo was a big success, I still worry for the mainstream Nintendo consoles.

I suppose all we can do is wait to hear more from Nintendo, hopefully with a Nintendo Direct between now and E3. But until then, we'll just have to hope for the best from Nintendo and pray every night that maybe one day soon we can get our hands on Legend of Zelda NX.

Paper Mario Color Splash

For those of you who weren't keeping up on Nintendo news lately, there was a brand new Nintendo Direct a few days ago, which had some coolish stuff in it, although I still think Starfox is boring so sue me, damn. Anyway, I nearly shat myself when I saw that there was indeed a new Paper Mario game coming to the Wii U! Paper Mario is one of my favorite franchises of all time and The Thousand Year Door was one of the first games I played ever. So how does the new game look?

Mostly shitty. Here's why.

First of all, I will give it credit that the overworld looked fine and the paint hammer is kinda cool in a way, but what pisses me the fuck off is the goddam battle mechanics. You would think that Nintendo would have learned their lesson after Sticker Star, but as of now it appears that they don't give a flying fuck about what people thought about that game. Here's the problem with Sticker Star: you should absolutely under no circumstances have to use any special ability or power to utilize a normal stomp or hammer, but sticker star demanded you have the basic stomp sticker if you wanted to stomp, which is ridiculous. As for the new game, the combat was shown briefly, so maybe it works differently, but my impression is that you are going to be painting fucking cards on the GamePad before every battle which would be probably the shittiest invention in the history of mankind.

So, here's hoping that the game has at least a somewhat normal battle system even though that's kind of a hopeless plea, I will plea nonetheless. And in case anyone from Nintendo decides to read this and give a fuck, pleasepleaseplease go back to battle points for special stomps and hammers and nothing for all the basic attacks. I know that there will never again be a masterpiece like The Thousand Year Door, but at least try. I mean, seriously. Try.

Until next time, kcduckling out.

New Nintendo 3DS Review

TWO WHOLE MONTHS LATER I'M NOT DEAD I SWEAR
seriously though, my bad on the whole "not posting" thing I've been doing lately.
anyways, I got the 20th anniversary Pokemon New Nintendo 3DS and it ROCKS
love it
it's the best

From the location of the game card slot to the face-tracking 3D to the Amiibo functionality to the badass faceplates, the New Nintendo 3DS is a solid alternative to the current Nintendo 3DS system. And, if you're one of the suckers who bought the New Nintendo 3DS XL, this regular sized version is also a viable alternate. It is seriously the best.
In other news, Pokemon Sun and Moon were announced which is also really awesome except that the 2 minute long trailer only had 15 seconds of Sun and Moon related stuffs.
Anywho I'll probably be back sooner rather than later because I still need to finish and review Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam, but until then, kcduckling out.

Also, if anyone has an extra Mew they wanna trade me, shoot me a message on Nuggetbridge or leave a comment below. I'll give you nearly anything.
